![]() What happened was I had hordes and hordes of elite golems to throw against warlords' manticores. Going all out blitz on both AIs at same time wasn't quite possible so what I did was just focus fully on defense against one warlord while going all out on other one. Both warlords wanted me dead because aside from them warlords I was the last faction still alive left to oppose them. ![]() But this was when Golems wasn't nerfed yet and still a good T3 unit instead of a mediocre t2 it is now. I once had to fight off two warlords who unleashed the global assault global spell which turns every single unit of theirs into elites and they was spamming infinite waves of manticores. And generally having all kinds of fun.Ĭonsequently that means turn 100+ very easily which translates into AI having ample amount of time grow their cities and having turns needed to bring out many T4s. I take my time to explore the world and the underground and then settle everywhere if I could. Its because I was building a empire in my own image. They did a lot of rebalancing to reduce this issue, and to some extend succeeded, but it shows that Planetfall was designed from the ground up to not feature high-tier unit spam, and AoW3 was not. I think the devs were quite surprised when AoW3 hit real life and it turned out players were experiencing this. let's just say it was a challenge to kill everybody before my treasury imploded.Īnyway, my point is that I'm pretty sure the developers and play-testers for AoW3 never faced this scenario either. except for those times I was playing Necromancer and after killing the first AI death stack of 6 manticores came to life under my command. Of course, facing 10 manticores can still be a pain. ![]() But presumably I just never allowed the AI enough time to build up. I imagine that if you kill all the cannon fodder but give the AI time to rebuild it would then spam more high level units, but even against such big armies my wars would be fairly quick and I'd just smash their cities in 10 turns or so.Ĭan't recall ever having played a game that turned into a slogging match. Sure, often enough they'd have 40 units defending a city in the very late game, but they'd be a mix of half tier 3-4 units and half assorted random cannon fodder. I have played so very many games of AoW3, from release on through all the expansions, and I've never seen more than 6-12 AI tier 4 units at once. I could only field like almost 20 without going broke. They deserve to be betrayed and lose all their toys. being able to bankroll 1k juggernauts is clearly cheating. Then I backstabbed and killed him for it. Just to count how many juggernauts he had on field. Other city would have 37 juggernauts and then a random cannon and a flame tank and maybe one golem for variety and flavor. A single city would have 40 Juggernauts defending it. my armies had to go through hundreds and hundreds of juggernauts to just bring him down. Once made a thread on old triumph forums showcasing emperor dwarf dreadnought AI. And useless AI rogues spamming age of deception on enormous maps. Esepcially when a same sized player empire will go bankrupt if they tried to pull the same stunt.
